Keramikk / Leire
The inspiration for my work is a combination of architecture, geology, memory and emotion. I work with porcelain, stoneware, earthenware and paper to create blocks that I later use as building material. The blocks are made by hundreds of layers of clay, which, after firing and depending on the color, size, shape and thickness, could look like wood, paper, a rusty piece of metal or a metamorphic rock. With the blocks I build spaces, shelters, dwellings and stations, to investigate the power of architecture. The relationships between our complex selves, the human condition, identities and the spaces we inhabit, permanently or temporary and their fragility, both physical and emotional.
