Sayo Ota is an artist born in Japan, currently based between Tokyo, Nuuk and Oslo. Ota earned an MFA in Global Art Practice from the Graduate School of Fine Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts (2025), and a BFA in Medium- and Material-Based Art from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts (2018). Through a transcultural and historiographical lens, Ota explores how trade, migration, and cultural exchange shape identity, examining tensions between permanence and change, as well as fluid narratives of social forces. norsk Sayo Ota er en kunstner født i Japan, som for tiden er basert i Tokyo, Nuuk og Oslo.
