Solveig Ovanger has been working with leather since 1978. During the last decade she has turned her attention to fish skin as a material. She makes sculptures and installations wherein she explores both the material, and the associative and visual qualities of fish skin. Solveig Ovanger has had solo exhibitions at North Norwegian Art Centre, Tromsø Art Centre, Sogn og Fjordane Art Museum, Hedmark Art Centre and Gallery of Northern Norway. She has participated in several group and touring exhibitions in Scandinavia, Russia and Iceland.
